Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board concluded a procurement process for surgical hospital services, specifically focusing on routine elective secondary care in dermatology. This award, under the Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023, is unrelated to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Health Harmonie Limited was awarded the contract through a direct award process, effective from 18th November 2025 to 31st March 2027, with options for extension.
Despite the process not involving a call for competition, the decision was made based on the principles of patient choice and much emphasis on quality over cost. To be noted, the procurement stage is in the award phase, with the contract active, focusing on services within the UKK1 region. This tender presents growth opportunities, particularly for businesses specialising in healthcare services, including dermatology and secondary care providers.
As the procurement process involved a direct award to an SME, it highlights the potential for smaller enterprises to secure similar contracts provided they demonstrate capabilities and quality adherence. Companies adept in delivering comprehensive patient pathways for acute elective surgeries would find this area ripe for exploration. Furthermore, the structure of the contract, being activity-based with flexible terms for service extensions, can offer providers a consistent pipeline of service delivery, marking a valuable growth avenue.
The service will provide routine, elective secondary care services for patients in the following specialties (though these may be amended in line with General Condition 13) - * Minor dermatological treatment (excluding Basel Cell Carcinoma) The services will include, where appropriate. * Pre-treatment e.g. referral processes; triage/clinical assessment; diagnostics; consultation; pre-treatment assessment and / or work up. * Treatment e.g. outpatient/ambulatory/inpatient treatment; joint assessments. * Discharge e.g. expected physical, self-care, psychological capabilities prior to discharge. This is a service specification for routine elective, multi-disciplinary inpatient, day case, outpatient procedures, outpatient services and diagnostics from independent sector providers. The providers must be able to offer the full patient pathway at specialty level for acute elective surgery from the first outpatient to completion of treatment with the exception of occupational therapy / physiotherapy, (as contained in 3.5.3 below). However, providers will also be required to accept referrals where the NHS patient has already undergone an assessment and been diagnosed for treatment. The overall service should be carried out in accordance with best practice and guidelines. The award has been made following Direct Award Process B.. This is an activity-based contract with no guaranteed value. The contract has been awarded for the period 18/11/2025 - 31/03/2027 with provision for extension included
