Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board has completed an urgent procurement process to award a contract to the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The awarded contract, titled "BNSSG_UHBW_CYP_Eating_Disorder_Monitoring_2024-2025_A - Urgent Award," is categorised under outpatient care services (CPV: 85112200) and addresses the need for physical health monitoring for children and young people with eating disorders. The service will be provided on an interim basis for 12 months starting from 26 January 2025 in the South West England region (UKK1).
This procurement was necessary due to the urgent circumstances of provider withdrawal and the high importance of continuous care for this vulnerable patient group. This tender provides significant business growth opportunities for healthcare providers, especially those specialising in outpatient care and youth health services. Businesses that have expertise in paediatric care, specifically in managing eating disorders, are well-suited to compete in this sector.
The urgent nature of the procurement and the assurance of a 12-month contract can provide immediate and tangible opportunities for organisations looking to expand their healthcare services and secure government contracts aimed at supporting vulnerable populations in a critical health area.
The provider will deliver physical health monitoring for children and young people with eating disorders on an interim basis for 12-months. This includes nurse-led clinic provision for physical health monitoring of CYP, and medical assessment and advice for the physical elements holistic of eating disorders care. Children and young people from 0-17 years and 11 months who have been referred by CAMHS clinician/psychiatrist for physical health monitoring relating to an eating disorder. At 18 years the young person will transition to the adult eating disorder service. Child/young person must be registered with a GP in BNSSG. Physical health monitoring for CYP with eating disorders will be carried out during a nurse-led outpatient clinic. The provision by UHBW is on an interim 12-month basis following the withdrawal of delivery by Primary Care providers in BNSSG on 26 January 2025. The service delivered by UHBW will replicate the service previously offered by Primary Care. Delaying the award to conduct a full application of the PSR would be likely to pose a risk to patient or public safety.
