Summary, notice description and lot information
Lancashire County Council is currently in the process of updating its procurement strategy for Community Equipment Services, an initiative within the Health and Social Work Services category. This process addresses the supply of essential disability-related equipment to children and adults across 12 areas in Lancashire, including the unitary authorities of Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool. The equipment aims to support individuals in maintaining their independence and improving their quality of life.
Key stakeholders such as the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Integrated Care Board are involved. Although previously set deadlines for tender submissions on 18 March 2025 are no longer relevant, the council remains committed to this service as part of its broader prevention strategy for local residents. Businesses are encouraged to keep an eye on the updated procurement announcement, expected around 13 January 2025.
This revised tender process presents significant opportunities for service providers specialised in healthcare equipment, medical supplies, and personal care products to engage in a long-term framework agreement. The contract period extends up to four years, with the possibility of partnership organisations calling off the agreement as needed. Companies with expertise in quality healthcare delivery, efficient logistics, and strong community support mechanisms are well-positioned to compete for this framework.
As Lancashire County Council focuses on enhancing service quality and accessibility, successful bidders could benefit from substantial business growth and community impact within the region.
The Community Equipment Service loans a variety of disability related equipment to children and adults across all 12 areas in Lancashire plus the two unitary authorities. The equipment helps people to maintain and maximise their independence, enable them and their carers to be safely supported and improve their quality of life. The provision of equipment makes a significant contribution to promoting independence, facilitating hospital discharge and avoiding admission to hospital or care homes. LCC is procuring a single provider framework agreement between LCC and the service provider whereby partnership organisations* have the option to call-off the framework agreement. *Partnership Organisations include Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Integrated Care Board, Blackburn with Darwen Council and Blackpool Council. See tender documents for full details. Additional information: The estimated Framework Values are based upon potential Call-off contracts which are up to 5 years, and could be longer. The Framework Agreement term will be 4 years.
