Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board is overseeing a contract for the Fall Recovery Exercise Class Service, focusing on rehabilitation services in Southampton City. The procurement process has reached the tender update stage, with a re-evaluation of the existing service. The current service contract, set to conclude on 30th June 2025, will be extended to Saints Foundation from 1st July 2025 to 31st March 2026.
This planned extension follows the Provider Selection Regime under the Health Care Services Regulations 2023, opting for a direct award procedure due to effective service delivery by the current provider. The overall contract value stands at £91,125, and the decision to extend reflects rigorous due diligence and a focus on service continuity. This procurement presents lucrative opportunities for businesses specialising in health and rehabilitation services, particularly those that can integrate into a healthcare delivery framework aimed at reducing health inequalities.
Companies that can offer innovative enhancements, social value, and robustly align with the NICE recommendations for fall prevention exercise will be well-positioned to compete in such tenders. The focus on service sustainability and improvement of social health outcomes suggests a strong preference for providers who demonstrate community-centric models and the capability to alleviate disparities in health outcomes through strategic collaborations.
NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) commissions the Falls Exercise Service to provide exercise intervention to all individuals who are at risk of falling, or who have had a fall. Patients that have fallen will have received a Comprehensive Falls Assessment (CFA) carried out by the community Independence Service (CIS). The service includes: * Support and arrangements for those that need transport to and from the venues. * An opportunity for participants to socialise with others. * A tailored offer for the needs of Southampton residents, both in terms of their geography, levels of ability, using appropriate referral mechanisms with existing agencies. * Supported to achieve the NICE recommendations for exercise to prevent falls. * Robust measures to capture improvements in strength balance and wellbeing. * Follow up with participants at 3, 6 and 12 months intervals to measure progression and levels of those still exercising. The current service has been reviewed with the recommendation of extending the arrangements with the current provider via PSR direct award process c. The ICB intends to award a new 9 month contract to the incumbent provider, Saints Foundation, at a value of PS91,125. The new contract will run from the 1st of July 2025 to the 31st of March 2026.
