The procurement process for the Northamptonshire Ophthalmology Service has reached the contract award stage, with NHS Northamptonshire ICB as the buying organisation. This contract, governed by the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, focuses on the health services category, specifically ophthalmology care, and was awarded without prior publication of a call for competition. The awarded contract, dated 16th December 2024, is active and spans the 2025/26 financial year.
It was awarded to Newmedica following an accreditation process, ensuring compliance with national standards and guidelines. This tender presents a significant growth opportunity for businesses involved in health services, particularly those specialising in ophthalmology.
Established providers with a focus on safe and effective delivery of health services stand to benefit. The awarded contract ensures a comprehensive service delivery, including training for future consultant ophthalmologists, which supports business development in the healthcare sector. Companies with the capability to meet the stringent quality standards, patient choice priorities, and national guidelines as outlined in the tender will find this contract particularly beneficial.
Additionally, suppliers that can innovate within the scope of the NHS Payment Scheme can position themselves favourably for future contracts.
