Summary, notice description and lot information
The Child Disability Support and Short Breaks contract, issued by Perth & Kinross Council, is currently in the tender stage. This procurement focuses on the Health and social work services category, specifically providing short breaks and practical caring support for children and young people with disabilities in Perth and Kinross. The open tender process allows for electronic submissions until 18 February 2026 by 12:00 PM GMT.
The contract, valued at £600,000, is slated to commence on 1 April 2026 and conclude on 31 March 2028, with a potential one-year extension. Community benefits are included, reinforcing the Council's commitment to enhancing local social value. This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in health and social care services, particularly those experienced in working with children with disabilities and their families.
Providers need a solid track record and Care Inspectorate registration, rated as 'Very Good' or 'Excellent'. With its focus on flexible, trauma-informed support, businesses capable of delivering weekend and evening services will find themselves in a strong position to compete. Companies that value community contributions and wish to expand their services in Perth and Kinross can leverage this tender for potential growth and community impact.
The service will provide access to short breaks and practical caring support for parent carers and children/young people in their homes and communities. Children and young people with disabilities will have better access to the support they need to meaningfully participate in their communities, to be included and to have opportunities to enjoy their childhoods/play and achieve their life potential. Support will be trauma informed and promote the rights of children and young people with disabilities. The aim of the service is to place children, young people, and parent carers at the centre of planning and directing their own support in line with their identified needs. The service will strengthen family wellbeing by ensuring that parent carers have the support they need at the earliest opportunity. Children and young people will have opportunities to learn independent living skills and to participate in activities and social opportunities. If this is achieved there will be a reduction in the likelihood of parents/carers experiencing burnout and children will be sustained in their home communities and with their families. The service will be flexible to provide support when children, young people and their parents/carers require this which will include evenings and weekends. Additional information: The Council will have the option of extending the Contract, for one further period of up to 1 year after the expiry of the initial term.
