Summary, notice description and lot information
Peterborough City Council has concluded a procurement process concerning the provision of public health primary care services under the Health Care Services Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023. The contracts awarded encompass NHS Health Checks, LARC (long-acting reversible contraception) services, and Smoking Cessation Support. The selection utilises a direct award process without prior publication of a call for competition, focusing on general-practitioner services in the Peterborough region (UKH11).
Each contract, effective from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2027, includes options for two one-year extensions, potentially extending the contract term to four years. The contracts were officially signed on 22 July 2025, marking a significant step in addressing local healthcare needs. This tender presents multiple avenues for business expansion, particularly for healthcare providers specialising in general-practitioner services, public health, and community care.
The awarded contracts, valued notably at £432,000 for NHS Health Checks, £460,000 for LARC services, and £44,444 for Smoking Cessation Support, indicate substantial public investment in enhancing health services. Companies with expertise in patient care and the capacity to deliver quality health interventions could significantly benefit. Furthermore, the nature of the contracts, which have been awarded to a combination of existing and new suppliers, suggests opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enter and expand within the public health sector in the UK.
