Care at Home
Overview
Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process for the "Care at Home" services has been initiated by the Cheshire East Council, a public authority within the sub-central government in the United Kingdom. The process is currently at the planning stage, with documents published on 23rd May 2025. This tender falls under the health and social work services category, aiming to merge the Care at Home services with care support in Extra Care Housing Schemes across the Cheshire East region.
These services, which include statutory care, are set to be operational from September 2026 for a term of three to seven years, depending on prior market engagement conducted in mid-2025. The procurement will use a competitive flexible procedure under the light-touch regime, and future notices are expected by the end of September 2025. This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specializing in health and social care, particularly those capable of offering comprehensive, domiciliary care services.
Companies with experience in managing frameworks, especially those aiming to support extra care housing schemes, will find this contract attractive. It is well-suited for SMEs, offering scope for business growth through a potential seven-year partnership with the Cheshire East Council. The approach is highly conducive to businesses that excel in delivering high-quality care and support services within flexible, long-term frameworks.
This procurement method ensures that innovative service providers can compete effectively for a robust public service contract.
Cheshire East Council are recommissioning the care and support services delivered in people's homes across the borough. This is currently known as Care at Home services or Domiciliary Care. These services are statutory services that enables people in need of care to remain living in their own home, whilst being kept safe.
For the first time, the Council will be merging the care and support offer for Care at Home and care and support services delivered in Extra Care Housing Schemes as one service provision and contract. Cheshire East currently has four extra care housing schemes in the borough. These buildings are staffed by a care team commissioned by the Council twenty four hours of the day, everyday.
Residents within these schemes receive support for planned and unplanned care and support needs. These contracts will go live in September 2026 with the intention to run across three - seven years. The final contract term will be determined following the outcome of market engagement events that the Council will be hosting across June and July 2025.
