The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has concluded the procurement process for the "Independent Advocacy Services 2026" contract, a significant undertaking aimed at providing statutory and general advocacy services, including Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy and Independent Mental Health Advocacy. The procurement, conducted via an open procedure, covers health and social work services specifically within the UKE12 region, and is now entering the award stage, with the award decision announced on 10th December 2025. The procurement process, which started with the tender notice in September 2025, allows for a contract period that begins on 1st April 2026 and can extend up to 31st March 2031.
This initiative supports the statutory duties and the well-being of residents within East Riding, embodying the Council's commitment to independent service provision. Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA), Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA), Litigation Friend, Relevant Persons Representative (RPR), 1:2 Advocacy and Care Act Advocacy are statutory services; the general advocacy is included within the overall IMCA Service as similar skills and competencies are required and this supports people who do not qualify for the statutory services. As the services have to be independent of the Local Authority, a procurement exercise is required to ensure we meet our statutory duties and those of wellbeing for residents within the East Riding.
Options of two one year extensions at the sole discretion of the Council.
