Summary, notice description and lot information
North Northamptonshire Council recently cancelled its tender for the provision of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products. Located in Corby, UK, the Council had intended to establish a framework to supply NRT for participants in its Stop Smoking Service. The initial stage involved floating tenders through an open procedure, with submissions invited until 28th May 2025, but this process was terminated on 8th May 2025.
The contract was divided into two lots: bulk buy (Lot 1) and direct-to-client (Lot 2), aimed at catering to the health and social work industry needs. Despite the cancellation, the procurement was set to operate under a framework agreement, indicating the Council's commitment to a strategic procurement approach in public health services. This tender presented lucrative opportunities for businesses specialised in health services, particularly those offering nicotine substitute products.
By participating, businesses could align with a municipal health initiative, gaining visibility and expanding their client base within the public sector. The procurement sought suppliers with both quality and cost-effective solutions, emphasizing the potential for SMEs and VCSEs to compete, as evaluation criteria balanced quality (60%) and price (40%). Suppliers capable of delivering diverse nicotine replacement solutions, such as patches and lozenges, could have seized this chance to enhance their reputation and market position through collaboration with North Northamptonshire Council.
