Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has completed the procurement process for the project titled "Provision of Out of Hours (OOH) - Personal Dental Services (PDS)". This initiative aims to enhance the current NHS provision of primary dental care in Powys, specifically through offering a Dental Out of Hours (DOOH) service on weekends and public holidays. Classified under the industry category "Dental practice and related services" (CPV code: 85130000), the contracts for Saturday and Sunday services have been awarded.
The procurement process used was an open procedure, and the awarded contracts were signed on 26th June 2025. Services will be provided specifically in the Powys region, denoted as UKL24. This procurement offers significant opportunities for SMEs focusing on dental or healthcare services in the UK, especially those equipped to handle emergency and urgent dental care outside regular hours.
The service provision on weekends aligns with a growing demand for flexible healthcare solutions. Companies with expertise in dental practice management and emergency care would find this engagement particularly beneficial for expanding their reach and enhancing their service portfolio. The process, weighted at 70% quality and 30% commercial criteria, encourages innovation and quality service delivery, offering a competitive edge to businesses capable of meeting high standards in healthcare provision.
