Summary, notice description and lot information
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has initiated a procurement process to secure the provision of 15 Intermediate Care Beds in Northumberland, classified under the health services industry category. The procuring process is being conducted under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR), specifically excluding the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The contracting process is active and in the tender update stage, with key dates including the standstill period commencing the day after 12th September 2024, with representations from providers due by 12 midnight, 11th September 2024.
The contract, valued at £3,441,428 for a maximum potential 4-year period, will start on 20th September 2024, initially for one year with the option to extend for up to three additional 12-month periods at the discretion of the Trust. The primary delivery location is Northumberland, UK. This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specializing in health services, particularly those providing residential health and nursing care facilities.
Given the high contract value and potential for extensions, companies experienced in healthcare delivery, intermediate care, or rehabilitation services can expand their portfolio and secure long-term business growth. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that meet the competitive criteria, such as the number of beds available, Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration and ratings, and robust business continuity plans, are well-suited to compete. Additionally, with award criteria balancing price (70%) and quality (30%), businesses that demonstrate high quality in service standards, staff training, and social value contributions like health improvement and net zero progress will have a competitive edge.
This competition opens the door for innovative healthcare providers to strengthen their market presence in the UK's health sector.
