The Council is seeking a range of Providers to deliver NHS Stop Smoking Services for Service Users in the City who smoke tobacco. Providers will work in partnership with the Council, Sunderland's Specialist Stop Smoking Service, the NHS and other stakeholders, as part of a Whole System Approach to prevent and minimise the harm caused by smoking to the Sunderland population by delivering an evidenced-based and quality assured programme that: Delivers high quality, evidence based stop smoking interventions to our local population. Provides access to NHS stop smoking service interventions which comply with best practice and evidence. Provides recommended pharmacological products to reduce withdrawal cravings alongside a programme of behavioural support. Ensures individuals are signposted and/or referred to other services as appropriate. Promotes harm reduction, prevention, early intervention and self-care. Contribute to local public health and tobacco control strategies, which have a commitment to reduce prevalence of smoking.
The Council is seeking a range of Community Pharmacies as providers of a local community based Sunderland Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) Voucher Scheme. The scheme aims to ensure that people that smoke tobacco have access to appropriate Nicotine Replacement Therapy products that are listed for general sales to help them stop smoking. This scheme does not include to the provision of varenicline (Champix). For details of provision of varenicline see Addendum One - Community Pharmacy Varenicline Scheme. Providers will work in partnership with the Sunderland City Council, Sunderland's Specialist Stop Smoking Service and other stakeholders to deliver a Programme that: Improves Service User access to Nicotine Replacement Therapy provision. Provides Nicotine Replacement Therapy dispensing in line with best practice and evidence as part of NHS Stop Smoking Service pharmacological products. Provides recommended pharmacological products to reduce withdrawal cravings from nicotine. Promotes prevention, early intervention and self-care. Contributes to local public health and tobacco control strategies, which have a commitment to reduce prevalence of smoking
Community Pharmacy Sexual Health Service (including Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) Provision of Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea Screening Kits, Distribution of Condoms via the Local C Card Scheme). The Council is seeking a range of local Community Pharmacies as Providers to deliver a Local Sexual Health Service in Sunderland which has the following components: Provision of emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) which is free at the point of access to Service Users who have had unprotected sex or potential failure of a contraceptive method - aged 13 years and over; Provision of screening for common bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through dual screening for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea for Service Users - aged 15-24 years; Registration and provision of condoms through the C-Card Scheme for Service Users aged 13-24 years; Provision of sexual health advice and support to Service Users, including (but not limited to) advice on the avoidance of pregnancy and STIs through safer sex and condom use, and information on the full range of contraceptive methods and signposting to other relevant services;
