Summary, notice description and lot information
The Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB) has awarded a contract for Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry services to the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. This procurement falls under the industry category of dental practice and related services, classified under the CPV code 85130000. The contract, valued at £8,460,795, is set for a duration of two years, commencing on 1st April 2026, with services provided in Oxfordshire, UKJ1 region.
The process is currently at the tender update stage, following the recent award confirmation using a Provider Selection Regime under the Health Care Services Regulations 2023, with direct award process C employed as the procurement method. This opportunity presents significant potential for business growth, particularly for those in the healthcare service industry, especially specialised dental services. The contract aims to enhance the delivery of oral healthcare to children and adults with complex needs, extending across primary and secondary care settings.
Businesses with experience in managing specialised dental clinics, expertise in treating patients with severe dental conditions or developmental challenges, and a commitment to improving health inequalities and service accessibility are well-suited to benefit from participating in this type of procurement process. Moreover, the emphasis on quality, integration and sustainability, alongside social value, implies that innovative approaches and collaborative ventures in healthcare can be highly advantageous in such procurements.
NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB) is looking to continue Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry (Clinic) with the current provider in Oxfordshire. The term of the existing Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry (Clinic) contract is due to expire on 31st March 2026 and BOB ICB has proposed that a new contract should replace that existing contract at the end of its term. All requirements outlined in Regulation 6(5) of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 have been met, including not breaching the considerable change threshold, and therefore direct award process C has been deemed the appropriate provider selection process. After conducting an assessment of the incumbent provider, taking into account the key criteria and applying the basic selection criteria, NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB is content that the existing provider is satisfying the original contract and will likely satisfy the proposed contract to a sufficient standard. The service is anticipated to commence on the 1st April 2026 for a contract duration of 2 years until the 31st March 2028, with a total value of PS8,460,795. This transparency notice serves as an intention to award the contract to the incumbent provider, using direct award process C under PSR. This procurement has been carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
