Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process for the Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry (General Anaesthetic) services for the Central and North-West London (CNWL) NHS Foundation Trust has been updated with significant developments. The buyer, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB), opted for a direct award under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) confirmed by the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The total contract value is £608,942, with services expected to begin on 1st April 2026 for a duration of two years, ending on 31st March 2028.
The procurement, classified under CPV code 85130000 for dental practice and related services, does not fall under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Notably, the contract ensures specialised dental care in a hospital setting for vulnerable populations and young individuals in the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire regions. This tender provides substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in dental healthcare services, particularly those with expertise in managing high-need patient groups requiring general anaesthetic care.
Ideal candidates would be healthcare providers that can demonstrate quality and innovation, value, collaboration, and sustainability, while reducing health inequalities. Service providers capable of maintaining a high standard of dental care and fulfilling the set criteria are invited to participate, presenting a significant opportunity for established providers like the Central and North-West London NHS Foundation Trust, which is the proposed supplier. Overall, the tender offers a stable two-year contract with a clear focus on enhancing dental care accessibility and quality across the community.
NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB) is looking to continue Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry (GA) Services with the current provider in Buckinghamshire. The term of the existing Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry (GA) contract is due to expire on 31st March 2026 and BOB ICB has proposed that a new contract should replace that existing contract at the end of its term. All requirements outlined in Regulation 6(5) of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 have been met, including not breaching the considerable change threshold, and therefore direct award process C has been deemed the appropriate provider selection process. After conducting an assessment of the incumbent provider, taking into account the key criteria and applying the basic selection criteria, NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB is content that the existing provider is satisfying the original contract and will likely satisfy the proposed contract to a sufficient standard. The service is anticipated to commence on the 1st April 2026 for a contract duration of 2 years until the 31st March 2028, with a total value of PS608,942. This transparency notice serves as an intention to award the contract to the incumbent provider, using direct award process C under PSR. This procurement has been carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
