The NHS North West London Integrated Care Board has completed the contracting process for the provision of elective ophthalmology services in North West London. This contract, awarded to Evolutio Care Innovations Ltd, is governed by the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 and falls outside the usual procurement laws applicable under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. It covers a service period from 1st June 2025 to 31st March 2026.
The procurement method used was a limited procedure involving a direct award process, where patients retain the choice of provider without restrictions from the relevant authority. The contract, valued at £717,250, focuses on consultant-led elective ophthalmology care that adheres to NHS principles and national waiting time standards. This tender presents significant business opportunities for firms specialising in healthcare services, particularly those capable of delivering specialist ophthalmology care aligned with NHS standards.
Businesses that prioritize patient choice and have the capability to provide comprehensive care pathways from diagnosis to treatment and discharge would be well-suited to participate in such competitions. Well-established healthcare providers, especially those with experience in delivering elective services under similar frameworks, can benefit from the financial stability and strategic growth potential offered by such contracts.
