Summary, notice description and lot information
Slough Borough Council is currently in the active tender stage for an "Accommodation-based Housing Related Support Service" aimed at residents of Slough aged 18 to 65. The procurement process is divided into two lots to cater for medium to high needs and low to medium needs individuals. This initiative, which focuses on preventing homelessness and promoting independent living, is scheduled to begin on 1 May 2026.
The tender employs an open procurement method, and suppliers can submit their proposals until 3 December 2025. A Supplier Engagement Event is set for 5 November 2026 via MS Teams, providing an opportunity for interested parties to learn more about the tender requirements. The contract is valued at approximately £1,396,800, with the potential to extend by one year until 2029.
The service involves housing and social work services, and other related accommodations and supports. This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the housing and social services sectors, particularly those with experience in providing support for vulnerable demographics such as the homeless, or those at risk of becoming so. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) are highly encouraged to apply, as the procurement includes provisions for both.
With a strong emphasis on quality, which accounts for 80% of the award criteria, businesses that can deliver high-standard, socially valuable services are well-positioned for success. Additionally, being part of a regional strategy to address homelessness, suppliers have the chance to establish or expand their presence in the public sector support services domain.
Lot 1: Provision of accommodation and support for 18 people with medium to high support needs The service is aimed at people aged 21 to 65, with high and/or complex needs, who have a significant or repeat history of rough sleeping and/or have health, care and support needs best met through supported housing. The service will also be open to young people aged 18-20 with higher needs dependent on ability to manage risk within the accommodation.
Lot 2: Provision of accommodation and support for up to 45 people with low to medium-sized support needs People aged 18-35 who are newly homeless and/or have less significant health or support needs and can be assisted through low/med support accommodation options, or access to housing and short-term floating support or reconnections to friends and family if deemed appropriate 18-65. The service will be open to young people aged 18-20 with higher needs dependent on ability to manage risk within the accommodation. The service will be open to people over 35 with lower needs dependent on the ability to manage risks within the accommodation.
