Summary, notice description and lot information
The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has announced its intention to award a contract under the Provider Selection Regime Wales, adhering to the Health Services (Provider Selection Regime) (Wales) Regulations 2025. The contract is set within the residential nursing care services industry, focusing on a placement for younger people under the National Collaborative Framework for adult mental health. Maes-Y-Dderwen in Wales has been identified as the intended recipient of this placement, which is considered under lot CS7 as a potential call-off contract.
The current stage of the procurement is the 'Award' phase, and a standstill period is in effect until 15 October 2025, allowing for representations by providers. This procurement utilises an open procedure method and is managed by the Commissioning Team for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities at the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. This procurement opportunity presents significant potential for business growth, especially for providers within the residential nursing care sector who are capable of meeting specialised care requirements under framework agreements.
Companies with expertise in mental health and learning disabilities services, particularly those already involved in similar frameworks, are well-suited to compete for such contracts. The partnership with SHAW HEALTHCARE (GROUP) LTD, a large-scale supplier, further emphasises the importance of capabilities in quality care provision and compliance with regulatory standards. Businesses that can demonstrate a strong capacity for delivering enhanced packages of care and social inclusion will find opportunities to expand their operations and strengthen ties within the public health procurement landscape.
Description of the procurement: This notice is an intention to award a contract based on a framework agreement with a competition. Under the National Collaborative framework for adult mental health, a placement is proposed between ABUHB and Maes-Y-Dderwen. This was assessed under the following key criterion as stated in PSR Wales Regulations 2025 and aligned within the Framework; They have 3Q's on the framework, the placement identifies as meeting all the service users needs. The placement also has qualified nurses which MDT have identified as required upon discharge. Beds are available and the placement is near home and the clinical team. The local area can promote social inclusion. The length of the placement is based on patient need and therefore, is undetermined at present. The supplier is a current provider on the framework and this notice refers to a new placement.
