Summary, notice description and lot information
Devon County Council is managing a procurement process aimed at delivering general-practitioner services within the Atkinson Secure Children's Home located in Exeter, UK. This purpose-built welfare unit operates under the council's management, providing residential care, healthcare, and education to young people aged 10 to 17 who require secure accommodation. The procurement relates to a direct award for services to be provided by Mount Pleasant Health Centre.
48. The process, guided by the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, falls under the industry category of "services" and focuses on enhancing the health and wellbeing of the young residents. This tender offers a substantial opportunity for Mount Pleasant Health Centre, already integrated within this community, to grow its business by providing continuity in health services and expanding its collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Businesses specialising in health services and possessing experience in working with vulnerable young people are particularly well-suited for such roles. The existing provider's demonstrated efficiency in delivering health services and addressing health inequalities makes the ongoing collaboration beneficial to both the service provider and the community's welfare. This procurement thus significantly contributes to social value, potentially improving health outcomes for young people and enhancing their reintegration into wider society upon leaving the home.
The Service Provider will deliver GP services for children and young people accessing secure accommodation within the Atkinson Secure Children's Home, to support children and young people within the home to understand their health needs and feel able to manage their health and wellbeing in a positive way, thus reducing the likelihood of potential risk posed to themselves and/or others. This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Intention to Award Notice. The Authority intends to award this contract to the existing provider following Direct Award Process C. The lifetime value of the contract is PS304,450.48. The contract will commence on 1st July 2025 and will expire on 31st March 2029. There is an option to potentially extend the contract for a further 3 periods of 12 months.
