Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process, initiated by South Tyneside Council, involves a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for the provision of passenger transport services using taxis and minibuses. The services encompass transport for schools and colleges, care homes, looked after children, individuals with additional needs, and council officials. This procurement relates to the 'Social work and related services' industry category and covers the Borough of South Tyneside and surrounding North East regions.
The procurement process is currently in the tender update stage, with the DPS operational until 23rd February 2029, allowing suppliers to apply at any point before this date. The procurement method follows a restricted procedure that encourages selective engagement of suppliers based on suitability criteria, with an estimated value of £12,000,000. This opportunity creates considerable growth prospects for businesses involved in passenger transport services, especially those with the capability to handle vulnerable groups and complex logistics.
The engagement requires firms with necessary licences and insurances, making it ideal for established transport providers. Additionally, the DPS framework allows new suppliers to join over an extended period, creating flexibility and ongoing opportunities to tender for contracts of varying durations. Businesses focused on social works and interested in extending their services to public authorities will find this opportunity particularly beneficial for expanding their foothold in the North East region.
South Tyneside Council is procuring this DPS on behalf of itself, and their partner organisations including any: * Public or private entity (including limited companies) in which the Council has a shareholding or interest; * Any Maintained and Academy schools (as defined in the Academies Act 2010) within the Borough of South Tyneside. * South Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group, including any successor; * South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, including any successor. The majority of contracts awarded under this DPS will be for the transportation of approximately 694 children and young people to and from school and college, 100 of whom attend 34 schools outside of the borough of South Tyneside, but within the North East. Other transport needs also include, but not limited to, the transportation of Looked After Children, people with additional needs, including complex needs and/or challenging behaviour, other vulnerable people, and councillors and officers of the Council and any other transport requirement as authorised by the Authorised Officer.
