Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process for the "In-Patient detox grant 2025" was conducted by North Somerset Council on behalf of a consortium of regional authorities and councils in South West England. This contract, under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, focuses on rehabilitation services within the healthcare industry. The process was completed through a limited procurement method without prior publication of a competitive call, primarily due to the urgent need caused by the closure of a contracted detox facility.
The contract was awarded to North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, commencing on 1 October 2025, and is active through 31 March 2026, with potential extensions up to March 2028. The contract's initial value is dependent on usage with a maximum budget of £90,000 for the 2025/26 period. The geographic focus includes regions UKK1 and UKK23.
This tender presents significant growth opportunities for providers specialising in healthcare services, specifically those equipped to deliver complex inpatient detox solutions. The process allowed for a streamlined award, potentially presenting a valuable partnership opportunity with public health authorities. Businesses with expertise in medically managed inpatient rehabilitation services are particularly well-suited to explore such opportunities in the future, as similar needs may arise in the region due to industry shifts or facility closures.
Furthermore, engaging in such contracts could bolster a firm's reputation and establish them as leaders in the healthcare service sector.
Due to the limited availability of medically managed detoxification facilities in the South West and particularly the footprint area covered by the consortium, and following the closure of our contracted provider of complex inpatient detox in June 2025 (ACER unit; Bristol operated by AWP NHS Trust), NSC, on behalf of the consortium, used PSR Direct Award process B to contact all complex inpatient NHS facilities in the country asking for expressions of interest in providing services to the consortium, with a view to entering into a contract with all applicable providers and offering patient choice. Two EOI were received, one was deemed unsuitable and therefore a contract was awarded to the one suitable provider. The contract commences on 1 October 2025 until 31 March 2026, with the option to extend for a further 12 +12 months should the grant be forthcoming for a further period. The end date including any extensions is 31 March 2028. Value depends on usage with a maximum value for 2025/26 - PS90,000
