Summary, notice description and lot information
NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board, situated in Basildon, UK, initiated a procurement process for Mental Health Core Services, targeting services across the Mid and South Essex Health Economy. The tender, ACE-0796-2025, classified under the health services category (CPV: 85100000), was originally intended to facilitate NHS Talking Therapies and Psychological Therapies for Severe Mental Health Problems. Despite meticulous planning noted from February 2025 and various procurement stages up to October 2025, the process ultimately faced abandonment under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, cancelling the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) process without awarding a contract.
The service period was planned from 1st August 2025 to 31st July 2028, with an optional extension, and would have included a substantial contract value estimated at £92,503,175. This procurement initiative presented a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in mental health services to establish and expand their footprint within the NHS framework, particularly in Mid and South Essex. Companies equipped with robust capabilities in delivering integrated health therapies could have significantly benefitted from this tender, which needed providers with the competency to administer both community health services and more complex psychological therapies.
Although this particular process was abandoned, future opportunities in the region may arise, providing similar avenues for businesses proficient in health services to enhance their portfolios and interest engagement in subsequent competitive procurements driven by similar healthcare priorities. Prospective providers are encouraged to prepare for and participate in future tenders, which may follow similar frameworks based on the region's strategic health goals and integration strategies emphasised during the tender planning stage.
