Birmingham City Council has awarded contracts for the provision of NHS Health Checks, a health service designed to prevent stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, or dementia in adults aged 40 to 74 in the UKG region. These contracts were awarded through a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) under the Health Care Services Regulations 2023, with the tender stage completed on 30th August 2024. The contracts commenced on 1st October 2024, with an initial duration up to the end of September 2025 and an option to extend for two years based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
This procurement falls outside the scope of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. An NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk. The check is available to those aged 40 - 74, however if an individual already has a diagnosis of any of the following, then they are not eligible for an NHS Health Check.

"Direct Award Process B" means the process set out in regulation 8 for the award of a contract without a competition. There is a fixed fee / tariff for services delivered. The contracts commenced on 1st October 2024 up to the end of September 2025 initially with an option to extend for a further 2 years subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. This is a service to be provided by new providers.
