Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Health Checks programme has been awarded by Middlesbrough Council, focusing on providing general practitioner services in the Middlesbrough area. The procurement falls under the services category, specifically targeting the healthcare industry as per the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. It was initiated as a tender and has reached the award stage, with the contract being signed on 28 March 2025.
The procured services aim to prevent cardiovascular diseases among patients aged 40-74 who have not been diagnosed with certain conditions. The procurement method employed is a limited award procedure without prior publication, suitable for the scope beyond traditional EU directives. This tender presents substantial opportunities for GP practices located in the Middlesbrough area capable of delivering NHS Health Check services.
It's an exceptional blend of service provision, offering long-term partnerships to eligible service providers without necessitating competitive bids, thereby securing steady revenue streams for such practices. Particularly, large-scale GP practices with the infrastructure to support government-mandated health check services will find this opportunity befitting. The contracts represent a pivotal engagement area for entities aiming to expand their client base in public health and preventive care services.
The NHS Health Check programme was established to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease. Patients aged 40 -74, who have not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions, are invited once every five years for a health check to assess their risk of developing CVD within the next 10 years. Patients will be given advice and support to help them reduce or manage the risk. Public Health South Tees (PHST) would like to contract with any and all GP Practices in the Middlesbrough area who are able to provide the government mandated NHS Health Check service to local residents. Contracts awarded to eligible Providers to deliver NHS Health Check Services following the 'Direct Award Process B' as set out in the Health Care Services Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Regulations 2023. "Direct Award Process B" means the process set out in regulation 8 for the award of a contract without a competition.
