Summary, notice description and lot information
Kent County Council is initiating a tender process for the procurement of a framework of providers offering residential, nursing, and complex care services for older persons in CQC registered care homes. This planned procurement is under the planning stage, with a scheduled contract period starting on 1st April 2026 and ending on 31st March 2034. The procurement follows an open procedure and targets services across multiple regions in the United Kingdom, including UKC, UKD, UKE, UKF, UKG, UKH, UKI, UKJ, and UKK.
4 billion GBP. The future notice date is set for 21st July 2025, with the award expected by the end of 2025, providing ample time for interested parties to prepare their submissions. This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specializing in residential health facilities and social work services to expand their operations within the care industry.
It is particularly suited for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) capable of meeting the demands of diverse care home settings including residential care, nursing care, and highly specialised complex care. Providers who are able to deliver tailored support ensuring safety, dignity, and quality of life for individuals requiring care due to age, disability, or health conditions will find this framework very beneficial for business growth and establishing a long-standing operational presence in the healthcare market, especially given the framework agreement enables ongoing opportunities.
Residential care homes aim to create a homelike environment, offering communal living spaces, meals, and recreational activities to foster social interaction and a sense of community. Residential Care provides support with daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility. It is suitable for individuals who do not require regular medical attention but need assistance with their overall well-being and safety.
Residential High Needs Care refers to specialised, intensive support provided within a residential care home setting for individuals who have significant and complex needs. These needs can stem from physical disabilities, chronic medical conditions, mental health issues, or developmental disabilities that require round-the-clock care and supervision.
Nursing Care provides support for individuals with complex medical needs or chronic health conditions that require regular or continuous medical oversight, within nursing homes. Nursing homes are often more clinical in nature, equipped with medical facilities to cater to high-level care needs, while still offering some social and recreational activities.
Nursing High Needs Care refers to the provision of advanced, multifaceted care that addresses the needs of patients with multiple, serious, or chronic health conditions, within nursing homes. This type of care typically involves managing intricate medical, physical, psychological, and social factors. It requires specialised knowledge, critical thinking, and coordination across disciplines to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Highly Specialised and Complex Care is for individuals with severe cognitive impairment and/or complex mental health needs and/or bariatric care requirements and/or behaviours that challenge, beyond the requirements of Residential High or Nursing High Needs Care.
