Summary, notice description and lot information
NHS Birmingham and Solihull ICB has completed the award process for an ophthalmology services contract under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The procurement falls under the health services category and took place at the Practice Plus Group Hospital in Birmingham. Following a direct award process, the contract is effective from 1st August 2024 to 31st July 2025, with services commencing on 23rd September 2024.
The contract award notice confirms it was made without a traditional call for competition or public contracts regulations, highlighting a specific procurement method due to the nature of responses to a restricted procedure. This tender offers excellent opportunities for business growth in the healthcare services sector, particularly for providers in ophthalmic procedures such as cataract surgery, YAG laser capsulotomy, and glaucoma services. The contract's estimation at £20,000 annually provides significant potential for suppliers offering competitive quality-driven services, focusing on patient choice.
This opportunity is especially suitable for businesses capable of delivering specialised medical services in Birmingham and Solihull, contributing to the region's healthcare infrastructure while expanding their market presence.
The service provided under this notice will be for elective services for Cataract Surgery, YAG Laser Capsulotomy, Oculoplastic Surgery and a Glaucoma Service. This contract award has been made following Direct Award Process B under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For the avoidance of doubt, neither the provisions of the Public Contract Regulations 2015 (as amended) nor The Procurement Act 2023 apply. The contract is awarded with no guarantee of activity. The value will vary dependent on the activity delivered. The amount payable for the Ophthalmology Service for a year is estimated to be PS20,000. This is a new provider delivering a new service, however, it is a service which is already being provided by other providers in Birmingham and Solihull to BSol ICB. The contract is from 1st August 2024 to 31st July 2025 with service commencement on 23rd September 2024.
