Summary, notice description and lot information
Perth & Kinross Council is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for the "PKC13563 Child Disability Support and Short Breaks" contract. This opportunity, with an estimated value of £600,000, falls under the services industry category and primarily aims to provide child disability support services across the Perth & Kinross Council Area. The council intends to enhance accessibility to short breaks and caring support for children with disabilities and their families.
The process initiation type is a tender, and interested suppliers are advised to register their interest by 12:00 on 18th September 2025. Further communication and detailed plans are expected to be released by 3rd November 2025. The procurement is aligned with the General Public Services category under the COFOG scheme.
This procurement tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in child care services, disability support, and community engagement activities. Organisations with a focus on providing flexible and trauma-informed care services are particularly well-positioned to compete for this contract. Additionally, consortiums are welcome, allowing smaller businesses with specific expertise in either aspect of care or community participation to team up and enhance their service offerings.
By engaging in this tender, businesses can strengthen their presence in the community sector and contribute to the social inclusivity and wellness of young individuals and their families in the Perth & Kinross region.
The service will provide access to short breaks and practical caring support for parent carers and children/young people in their homes and communities. Children and young people with disabilities will have better access to the support they need to meaningfully participate in their communities, to be included and to have opportunities to enjoy their childhoods/play and achieve their life potential. Support will be trauma informed and promote the rights of children and young people with disabilities. The aim of the service is to place children, young people, and parent carers at the centre of planning and directing their own support in line with their identified needs. The service will strengthen family wellbeing by ensuring that parent carers have the support they need at the earliest opportunity. Children and young people will have opportunities to learn independent living skills and to participate in activities and social opportunities. If this is achieved there will be a reduction in the likelihood of parents/carers experiencing burnout and children will be sustained in their home communities and with their families. The service will be flexible to provide support when children, young people and their parents/carers require this which will include evenings and weekends..
