Summary, notice description and lot information
NHS Lanarkshire initiated a procurement process for healthcare services related to custody and forensic medical services under the tender titled "Police Custody Healthcare and Forensic Medical Services". This falls under the health industry category within the Lanarkshire region, intended to support Police Scotland's Criminal Justice Services Division. The procurement followed an open procedure and was completed with the contract currently in the award stage as of 29th April 2025, after the tender process concluded in October 2024.
The contract began on 7th April 2025, with NHS Lanarkshire as the buying organisation and the Custody and Offender Medical Service as the awarded supplier. The main procurement category is services, with key locations including regions UKM84 and UKM95. The contract was marked by an open procurement method and is valued at £8,679,904 GBP.
This procurement offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for service providers specialising in healthcare provision within a forensic context. Companies with expertise in delivering comprehensive medical assessments and care to individuals in police custody or similar environments could benefit from such contracts, as it supports a sustainable income stream through a government-aligned initiative. Moreover, organisations capable of providing 24/7 medical care and liaising effectively with law enforcement and judicial bodies would find this project particularly suitable.
The inclusion of community benefits also opens sub-contracting possibilities to SMEs and supported businesses, ensuring a wider impact on local employment and skills development within the community.
