Request for Information - Provision of Medical Support for Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Other Events

North Yorkshire Council is requesting information from suppliers to help determine the scope and feasibility of its requirement, to understand the range of potential solutions available in the market, and to assist with drafting a potential future tender specification for the provision of medical support at events at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Spa and other venues. The number of people requiring medical treatment at any music or similar event will vary considerably with the activities being undertaken, along with the environmental conditions surrounding the event. Even at a small, low risk event, there is the possibility of collapses or other medical emergencies. There is extensive evidence demonstrating the importance of rapid lifesaving first aid in these circumstances. The range of medical conditions can also vary enormously and there should be adequate capability to manage a wide range of traumatic and medical situations, varying from the trivial to the life threatening. Special consideration needs to be given to drug and alcohol issues, along with psychiatric problems. It is important to ensure that the spectrum of care is available, commensurate with the size of the event. The Role: * Ensuring that there is an appropriate level of medical, first aid and ambulance provision at an event that will minimise the impact on the local NHS services. * Undertake a medical, ambulance and first aid assessment. * A medical staffing plan should be made prior to the event to ensure that staff are deployed appropriately * Medical provision should be provided for the full duration of the events, including build up and derig.
