Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB) has awarded a contract for unscheduled dental care services to the current providers, Mr S Kaura and Mr T Tariq. This procurement, categorised under dental practice and related services, is designed to address urgent dental clinical presentations and falls under the services segment. The industry classification code for this service is CPV 85130000.
The procurement has advanced to the award stage and is facilitated under a direct award, known as process C, as part of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. Initial service delivery is planned to start on 1st April 2026, for a 2-year term, concluding on 31st March 2028, with the contract valued at £263,198. The services will be delivered in the region encompassing Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, and the procurement was executed with no requirement for prior publication of a call for competition.
This tender presents substantial opportunities for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially those already engaged in the healthcare sector. Businesses with expertise in urgent dental care and those willing to work within NHS framework agreements will find this particularly relevant. The assignment leverages the existing knowledge and capabilities of the incumbent, showing favour towards providers familiar with NHS regulations and service requirements.
It focuses on quality, innovation, integration, collaboration, and the sustainability of service provision, aiming to reduce health inequalities while improving access and delivering social value. The continuation of the existing partnership with the current providers indicates a business environment that supports reliable, quality-based service delivery. This sustainable setup offers SMEs a platform to bolster their service range and solidify their market position within the healthcare domain.
NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB) is looking to continue Unscheduled Dental Care (UDC) with the current provider in Berkshire. The term of the existing Unscheduled Dental Care (UDC) contract is due to expire on 31st March 2026 and BOB ICB has proposed that a new contract should replace that existing contract at the end of its term. All requirements outlined in Regulation 6(5) of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 have been met, including not breaching the considerable change threshold, and therefore direct award process C has been deemed the appropriate provider selection process. After conducting an assessment of the incumbent provider, taking into account the key criteria and applying the basic selection criteria, NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB is content that the existing provider is satisfying the original contract and will likely satisfy the proposed contract to a sufficient standard. The service is anticipated to commence on the 1st April 2026 for a contract duration of 2 years until the 31st March 2028, with a total value of PS263,198 This transparency notice serves as an intention to award the contract to the incumbent provider, using direct award process C under PSR. This procurement has been carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
