Summary, notice description and lot information
NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Frimley Integrated Care Board are procuring Unscheduled Dental Care (UDC) services in the Berkshire region under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The procurement process reached the award stage with an overall contract value of £745,901, commencing on 1st April 2026 for a duration of two years. The procurement was executed through a direct award procedure under the Provider Selection Regime and does not fall under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
The procurement category is dental practice and related services, with the buyer located in Cowley, UK. The initial publication date of the award notice was 16th June 2025, with a standstill period ending on 27th June 2025. This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in dental and healthcare services, particularly those with the capabilities to provide urgent and unscheduled dental treatments under the NHS framework.
The opportunity suits larger providers experienced in integrated care services, as demonstrated by the evaluation criteria prioritising quality, innovation, integration, and social value. Existing partnerships with the Integrated Care Boards in the region, as well as the ability to demonstrate service sustainability and the reduction of health inequalities, are advantageous for businesses looking to engage with this procurement.
NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Frimley integrated Care Board (ICB) are looking to continue Unscheduled Dental Care (UDC) with the current provider in Berkshire. The term of the existing Unscheduled Dental Care (UDC) contract is due to expire on 31st March 2026 and BOB and Frimley ICBs have proposed that a new contract should replace that existing contract at the end of its term. All requirements outlined in Regulation 6(5) of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 have been met, including not breaching the considerable change threshold, and therefore direct award process C has been deemed the appropriate provider selection process. After conducting an assessment of the incumbent provider, taking into account the key criteria and applying the basic selection criteria, NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West and Frimley ICBs are content that the existing provider is satisfying the original contract and will likely satisfy the proposed contract to a sufficient standard. The service is anticipated to commence on the 1st April 2026 for a contract duration of 2 years until the 31st March 2028, with a total value of PS745,901 (PS400,549 from BOB ICB and PS345,352 from Frimley ICB). This transparency notice serves as an intention to award the contract to the incumbent provider, using direct award process C under PSR. This procurement has been carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
