Summary, notice description and lot information
The Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB) has awarded a contract for Unscheduled Dental Care services to DA Clinics Ltd. This procurement process, which falls under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, involves the continued provision of dental services in Thatcham, West Berkshire within the UK. The award process utilised a direct award procedure without prior publication, indicating its classification as outside the scope of the usual Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
The contract is set to commence on 1st April 2026 for a duration of two years, with an expected completion on 31st March 2028, and the total contract value is £135,486. Key elements guiding the decision included service quality, innovation, integration, and the ability to address health inequalities, reflecting the critical healthcare nature of the procurement aligned under the CPV code for dental practice and related services (85130000). This contract presents business growth opportunities particularly suited to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in healthcare services.
The contract emphasises maintaining high levels of care quality and integration, offering the potential for businesses experienced in these areas to showcase their expertise. By participating in this sector, companies can access a stable two-year service provision opportunity, allowing for future planning and service enhancement. Businesses with experience in urgent care, patient management, and collaboration with NHS entities will be well-placed to compete and thrive within this public service landscape, particularly in dental care services.
This procurement also highlights the growing demand for services capable of addressing immediate healthcare needs while providing integrative and sustainable solutions, a crucial consideration for businesses aiming to expand in the public healthcare domain.
NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB) is looking to continue Unscheduled Dental Care (UDC) with the current provider in Thatcham, West Berkshire. The term of the existing Unscheduled Dental Care (UDC) contract is due to expire on 31st March 2026 and BOB ICB has proposed that a new contract should replace that existing contract at the end of its term. All requirements outlined in Regulation 6(5) of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 have been met, including not breaching the considerable change threshold, and therefore direct award process C has been deemed the appropriate provider selection process. After conducting an assessment of the incumbent provider, taking into account the key criteria and applying the basic selection criteria, NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICB is content that the existing provider is satisfying the original contract and will likely satisfy the proposed contract to a sufficient standard. The service is anticipated to commence on the 1st April 2026 for a contract duration of 2 years until the 31st March 2028, with a total value of PS135,486 This transparency notice serves as an intention to award the contract to the incumbent provider, using direct award process C under PSR. This procurement has been carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
