Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process, initiated by NHS England, involved an urgent award for "Breast Cancer Screening support in South Essex" under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. This award was necessitated by unforeseen circumstances where the primary provider became unable to meet the full scope of services, leading to a backlog of patients. The process followed a limited procurement method without prior publication, focusing on the health services category, specifically breast cancer screening.
InHealth Intelligence, an existing provider with significant capacity in the London region, was awarded the contract. The contract, valued at £180,000, was signed on 10th July 2025 and covers a period of four months from 15th September 2025, with a possible extension of up to eight weeks. This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses within the healthcare service sector that specialise in rapid deployment and scalability, particularly those experienced in managing backlog and urgent healthcare needs.
Organisations with existing operational capabilities and experience in the health screening domain like InHealth are well-positioned to leverage such contracts to expand their footprint and demonstrate their proficiency in handling urgent public health issues. Companies with large operational scales and a history of successfully working alongside NHS frameworks could find promising growth prospects through similar tenders, particularly in areas aligned with public health priorities.
