Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board has awarded a 14-month contract for the provision of the 11+ Stammering Service in the Mid Essex area under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. This urgent award, valued at £36,500, uses a limited procurement method without prior publication due to the critical need for continuity of care. The contract was awarded to the Michael Palin Centre to mitigate risks to patient health and ensure seamless transitions in children's education and development stages.
The service is set to start on 1st February 2026 and will run until 31st March 2027, aligning with current Community Collaborative block contract periods as part of an ongoing transformation programme. This tender offers significant growth opportunities especially for businesses well-versed in community health services, specifically in the area of speech therapy. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in managing urgent care situations or who have experience in healthcare provisions under pressing needs could find this contract particularly compelling.
Additionally, suppliers familiar with navigating the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) and those capable of contributing to continuity of care under transformational health programmes would be highly suited to engage in similar future opportunities. This contract not only offers a financial proposition but also a chance to establish a foothold in the healthcare sector within the Essex region.
Urgent award notice under the Provider Selection Regime 2023 for the provision of 11+ Stammering Service in mid Essex area of NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (herein referred to as 'the Authority'). The award must be made urgently in order to provide continuity of care. There is significant risk that if this award was not made there would be an impact on this cohort of patients to their health and outcome of a good transition between key stages in a child's education and development. The reason for the urgency was not foreseeable by and is not attributable to the relevant authority and delaying the award to conduct a full application of the PSR would be likely to pose a risk to the patients. Due to urgent circumstances, the Authority has awarded a 14 month contract to an existing provider, The Michael Palin Centre. The contract will commence on 1st February 2026 until 31st March 2027. The length of the contract would enable alignment with the current Community Collaborative block contract periods. A transformation programme is underway which would see this service be added to the current block contract as a substantive service. THe value of the contract for the period stated above is PS36,500.
