Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process led by the Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB) involves the modification of an existing contract concerning Immediate Minor Oral Surgery (IMOS) services. This modification, governed by the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, extends the service provision by six months. Services under this contract are to be carried out at the BASDAC LLP Bristol Dental Anaesthetic Clinic, located at 4 Downside Road, Bristol, UKK11, and are specifically tailored to accommodate dental emergencies such as severe pain or trauma outside normal practice hours.
This modification was recommended due to a decision by the Primary Care Operational Group and is enacted in accordance with Regulation 13(1)(d) of the PSR (2023), with no significant change in the contract’s nature. This tender extension creates opportunities for businesses that can provide specialised dental services aimed at emergencies beyond normal practice hours. Companies that are capable of delivering healthcare services swiftly and efficiently during evenings, weekends, and public holidays might find this contract particularly beneficial.
The competitive tender phase to follow the extension period signals forthcoming opportunities for new and existing suppliers in the healthcare service industry, especially those specialising in dental practices. Large-scale healthcare providers, like BASDAC LLP, who have the infrastructure and workforce to manage acute healthcare needs with expertise in dental procedures, are well-suited to capitalise on this opportunity for business growth.
The IMOS provider is required to deliver a range of minor oral surgery services to patients, which are offered outside of regular practice hours, typically evenings, weekends, and public holidays. These services are designed to provide patients with access to treatment for dental emergencies such as severe pain, swelling, trauma, or uncontrolled bleeding when routine dental practices The variation and extension to Contract are non recurrent and time limited to a maximum of 06 calendar months. However, please note, that it is the Commissioner's/ICB's intention to undertake a competitive tender, during the period of extension. The Commissioner considers that the modifications are permitted by Regulation 13(1)(d) of the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) (2023), where the modification is attributable to a decision of the authority, the modification does not render the contracts materially different in character. This notice has been published in line with Regulation 13(4)(c) and Schedule 12 of the Provider Selection Regime (2023).
