Summary, notice description and lot information
This public procurement process, initiated by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, involves an intention to award notice under the Provider Selection Regime for Gynaecology Oncology Services. The process falls under the health industry category, specifically gynaecological hospital services, and is focused on services in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom. The procurement method is limited, without prior publication of a call for competition, and relates to the repetition of existing services.
The announcement, dated 3rd September 2025, marks the beginning of the standstill period, with representations required by 15th September 2025. Despite being an intention to award, the contract under consideration has not yet been formally awarded. This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the healthcare sector, particularly those specialising in the treatment of female reproductive cancers through a multidisciplinary approach.
Businesses equipped to provide specialised staff such as gynaecologic oncologists, surgeons, and other related specialists may find this opportunity particularly appealing. With plans to expand theatre space and bring the service in-house by April 2026, healthcare providers that can offer integrated or adaptable solutions for such a transition are well-suited to compete. The procurement method and industry's specificity may benefit larger healthcare organisations with established expertise or strategic partnerships in gynae-oncology.
The Trust current outsource the service for gynae oncology to Gateshead University Hospital Trust. The service is a specialised field focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cancers affecting the female reproductive system including cancers of the ovaries, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva. The service involves a multidisciplinary approach with specialists like gynaecologic oncologists, surgeons, medical and clinical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and nurse.<br/>The Trust pervious 12 month spend was PS1,200,000.00 per year. The previous award was made via a single tender waiver with the intention of bringing all services in house by employing two consultants. the consultants have been brought in house however due to the lack of theatre space the consultants can only preform one procedure per month. The reduction in cost for the oncoming 12-month period is due to the newly employed consultants. The intention is to expand and create theatre space by April 2026 and bring the service in house therefore the award document is only needed for a further 12 months
