Summary, notice description and lot information
The Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust has initiated the planning stage of a procurement process for the 'Humber & North Yorkshire Crisis Text Support Service'. This tender focuses on providing health services in the region of Humber and North Yorkshire, under the CPV classification of health services. It is currently at the planning stage with the completion of expressions of interest due by 11th February 2026.
The service is planned to align with the national Crisis Text Support Guidance and Specification, and a future notice is scheduled to be released on 1st March 2026. The potential contract is valued at £290,000 over an initial one-year term, potentially extendable by another year, intending to provide round-the-clock, 365-day crisis support through text for mental health services. This tender offers significant business growth opportunities for organisations with experience in mental health and crisis support services.
Companies capable of furnishing real-time, anonymous communication services that cater to a broad age range and leverage text-based interaction will find this opportunity particularly beneficial. Firms with expertise in mobilisation strategies to handle initial service setup costs and those with a strong portfolio in delivering equivalent services are encouraged to compete. The inclusive service design offers a chance for small and medium enterprises to present innovative solutions, possibly rendering them as pivotal partners in transformative public health strategies in the region.
The expectations of a crisis text service is to provide support to all age-groups as a 24 hour, 365 day service by trained practitioners who can engage in real-time conversations to provide immediate support, helping to de-escalate situations and prevent the need for more intensive crisis intervention. Service users may choose to text rather than call to retain anonymity, because they have difficulty expressing emotions verbally, to reduce real-time pressure, for safety reasons (e.g. in domestic abuse situations) or because it is their generational preference as a means of communication. Additional information: The estimated contract value of PS290000 is over the maximum term of 2 years. It is noted that year 1 may include mobilisation costs so the value may not be a 50:50 split across the 2 years. In expressing interest suppliers are asked to outline (in no more than 500 words) their relevant experience and expertise to deliver this type of service, including examples of any similar services currently or previously provided. Expressions of interest will be accepted until 23:59pm 11th February 2026. After this point the Trust will decide which Provider Selection Regime process is most appropriate to award the contract.
