Summary, notice description and lot information
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is in the process of completing the award of a contract aimed at supporting the establishment and delivery of the Trust's new Mechanical Thrombectomy service. This falls under the health services industry category with CPV code 85100000. The procurement process adheres to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, involving a Most Suitable Provider selection without a competitive exercise.
The location for this procurement is in the UKJ44 region (Kent, United Kingdom). The process is currently at the award stage, with an intention to award notice published on 19th September 2025. This includes a standstill period that ends on 1st October 2025, providing time for representations by interested providers.
This procurement represents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those offering specialised clinical staffing capable of supporting mechanical thrombectomy procedures. With the award identified as being suited for Athona Limited, other businesses with similar capabilities or those interested in niche insourcing roles may see this as an opportunity to adapt and offer competitive services in future procurement rounds. Companies with trained and competent interventional neuroradiologists, radiographers, and nurses would be particularly well-equipped to engage in similar tenders, providing essential medical personnel services to enhance NHS capabilities.
The procurement strategy follows a direct award approach, targeting the identification of the most suitable provider based on key criteria like quality, service sustainability, and social value, which are beneficial evaluation metrics for business growth in this sector.
