Summary, notice description and lot information
The contracting authority, NHS South Yorkshire ICB, has confirmed the contract award for the provision of General Practitioner services under the GP Locally Commissioned Services Contract at the Southey Green Medical Centre. Situated in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, this contract falls under the healthcare industry category. The procurement process, classified as a "limited" method, was executed without prior publication due to regulatory allowances under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
The awarded contract spans from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026, following a decision made by the Sheffield Senior Management Team and Leadership Team in July 2024. The contract, valued modestly, does not involve option clauses and was completed through a direct award to an existing provider group, specifically without competition. This tender presents opportunities for businesses already engaged in healthcare services, particularly those with existing capabilities to deliver GP services as part of an interconnected framework like the GP Locally Commissioned Services.
While the contract was directly awarded to Southey Green Medical Centre, it highlights the potential for other qualified GP service providers to engage with similar procurement opportunities, provided they align with the specific contract requirements. The direct award methodology in this case underscores a market largely accessible to established healthcare providers that can integrate additional services seamlessly with existing frameworks, thus enhancing their operational reach and service provision portfolio.
This contract Award has been made following direct award process A of the Provider Selection Regime.

These contracts are awarded to an existing group of providers. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (GP) is because they are required to hold a contract via the GP Framework and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the GP Framework contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices. The contract will be from 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026
