Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has awarded the contract for GP Locally Commissioned Services to The Mathews Practice in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. This contract falls under the Provider Selection Regime regulations, specifically exempting it from the Procurement Act 2023 regulations. The procurement process was completed through a direct award method, bypassing the need for a public call for competition.
This award-related procurement stage was finalised on 1st April 2025, with the contract set to commence on the same day and conclude on 31st March 2026. The contract is specifically for services in the general practitioner category, enhancing services provided under the GP Framework, and is in accordance with the Healthcare Services category. This tender offers business opportunities primarily for healthcare providers who are already part of or eligible to join the GP Framework due to the interdependent nature of the services involved.
As the contract supports locally commissioned services, it provides growth potential for small to medium-sized healthcare enterprises that can align with existing GP services and offer scalable, activity-based service delivery. Businesses equipped with the capabilities to deliver integrated healthcare services in compliance with local pricing models will find this opportunity particularly suited to fostering their growth within the regional healthcare structure. The direct award process emphasises the need for pre-existing relationships within the healthcare framework, presenting niche opportunities for well-positioned providers in the Sheffield area.
This contract Award has been made following direct award process A of the Provider Selection Regime.

These contracts are awarded to an existing group of providers. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (GP) is because they are required to hold a contract via the GP Framework and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the GP Framework contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices. The contract will be from 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026
