Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has announced the award of contracts under the Provider Selection Regime for enhanced optical services. This falls under the health industry's optician services category, targeting locations including Wakefield, Bradford, and Leeds. The procurement process was completed through a direct award procedure without prior publication for competition, adhering to the NHS Provider Selection Regime.
The awarded contracts, which are active from 1st April 2025 until 30th September 2027 with a potential extension to September 2028, aim to improve urgent eyecare, glaucoma referrals, and cataract pathways in the community, enhancing the service delivery by leveraging local optometric skills. This tender provides significant business growth opportunities for small and medium enterprises within the health care sector, particularly those offering optical services. Providers adept in delivering community-based urgent eyecare and capable of participating in an enhanced care pathway for glaucoma and cataracts are well-suited to benefit.
Additionally, the focus on patient choice and local service delivery opens avenues for existing and new providers to establish or expand partnerships with health care provider networks across the Yorkshire region. The zero-value nature of the contracts emphasises a performance-based approach, rewarding service provision rather than fixed payments, thus aligning with flexible and responsive business models.
