Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process for the "Outpatient Network Provision of Max Fac Consultant Cover" was conducted by the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, located in Guildford. This contract falls under the health services category, specifically focusing on addressing capacity issues within oral maxillofacial services. The procurement method used was limited, specifically an award procedure without prior publication due to extreme urgency.
The contract was awarded to Outpatient Network on 25th July 2025, with a total value of £414,480. The location specified for the service delivery is the UKJ region in the United Kingdom. This tender provides a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in healthcare services, particularly those that can offer insourcing solutions to supplement consultant workforce gaps.
Companies with the ability to rapidly deploy healthcare professionals to manage high-demand and critical healthcare conditions would find this an ideal opportunity to support public health objectives and expand their business presence. The successful supplier, Outpatient Network, indicated suitability as an SME, demonstrating that smaller, specialised businesses are well-suited to compete for such contracts where flexibility and specialised skills are critical.
"Pressures on the Oral Maxillofacial Service have continued to increase with a high demand and an RTT waiting list of over 4,400 patient and an increasing volume of those waiting over 52 weeks which is now sat at over 720. This demand issue has been compounded by increased gaps in the consultant workforce that have presented a challenge to cover both short and long-term. This has resulted in prioritising our available resource on ensuring patient safety, urgent trauma and cancer pathways. The risk to elective patients, with the current available resource, requires the urgent intervention of additional clinical capacity to prevent deterioration of our existing position and ensure patient safety. Therefore we require urgent insourcing provision to mitigate this risk. "
