Summary, notice description and lot information
The London Borough of Bromley is seeking to continue the provision of Sexual Health Services through its GP Practices located within the borough, under a direct award process as part of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) 2023. This procurement falls under the industry category of Health and Social Work Services and employs a "limited" method of procurement, without prior publication of a call for competition. The contract, valued at approximately £1,340,000, is set to commence on 1st April 2026 and will run for six years until 31st March 2032.
Following a comprehensive assessment and standstill period that concluded on 5th August 2025, this contract ensures that services remain inclusive and responsive to the needs of Bromley residents. This procurement process presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in integrated health service delivery, particularly those with experience in primary care environments. Businesses equipped to deliver high-quality sexual health services, including STI screening and Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC), and adhering to recognised standards such as those from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH), will be well-positioned to engage with this contract.
The focus on sustainability and integration with existing health systems makes it an attractive prospect for businesses aiming to expand their offerings within established networks, particularly those that can demonstrate commitment to community health outcomes and innovative methods for improving service delivery.
The Service provides an integrated sexual health service model in primary care to ensure statutory obligations are met and are provided alongside online and specialist clinic provision. Under the contracts, opportunistic STI screening is offered by participating practices to their patients who do not have symptoms but are at risk of an infection and to offer HIV testing at appropriate patient contacts points such as to new patients at registration. GP Practices are also commissioned to increase the uptake of Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC). LARC is a more cost effective, non-user dependent method. It is recommended by NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) as an effective method to prevent unplanned pregnancies, including teenage conceptions. The Council is intending to award a contract to the existing group of providers i.e. Bromley GP Practices, following Direct Award process C of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) 2023. The Service will commence on 1st April 2026 for a period of six years ending on 31st March 2032 with an approximate lifetime value of the Service of PS1,340,000
