The NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board has completed the procurement process for the urgent award of a contract to provide Community Carpal Tunnel Decompression services for adults. This project is classified under the industry category of community health services, with the procurement focusing on the UKH3 region. The contract runs from 1st April 2025 to 31st October 2025, with an option to extend for another six months until 31st March 2026.
The procurement method employed was a limited award procedure without prior publication due to the urgent nature of the service requirement. The contract was officially signed on 14th January 2025, with the awarded supplier being Provide Wellbeing Limited. This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specializing in community health services by allowing them to deliver critical healthcare solutions efficiently.
Specifically, companies with experience in managing and treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome through community-based interventions would be well-suited. Pursuing such tenders can lead to business expansion, enhanced reputation, and increased revenue through public contracts. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can rapidly mobilise resources and demonstrate expertise in this medical field are ideal candidates for similar future opportunities.
A Community Carpal Tunnel Decompression service for adults that supports the appropriate management of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in the community and reduces the number of referrals to the acute unless complex decompression procedure is necessary. This ensures that decompression surgery is only provided when conservative treatment has failed to reduce symptoms. There is a need for an urgent award of contracts for Community Carpal Tunnel Decompression service for adults for a period of 6 months (01st April 2025- 31st October 2025) with an option to extend for a further 6 months (01st November 2025 - 31March 2026) to ensure sufficient time for the procurement and that no risk to patient safety through increased (long) waiting times unless an arrangement is in place for 1 April 2025 as all access would then be referred into MSEFT who have confirmed they cannot absorb the activity within current capacity. The current contract with the incumbent (Provide Wellbeing Limited ) expires on 31st March 2025 and as a consequence there is a requirement to award a 6 month contract from 01st April 2025 to 31st October 2026 with an option to extend for a further 6 months 01st November 2025 to 31st March 2026. The value is a PS0 value contract - paid at local prices - planning value for 2024-25 is PS19,688 which is subject to any uplift applied to 2025-26.
