Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board has awarded a contract for the urgent provision of MSK and Physiotherapy Services in the health sector. The procurement process encountered unforeseen delays, necessitating an award under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The contract will commence on 1st April 2025 and run through to 31st March 2026, covering the Basildon, Brentwood, and Thurrock regions under UKH3.
This award procedure did not require prior publication due to the urgency and falls outside the standard directive applications. Notably, the contract has been signed with Thurrock Health Hubs Limited following the expiration of the existing agreement on 31st October 2025. This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those focusing on musculoskeletal pain management and physiotherapy.
Companies engaged in these sectors can gain valuable contracts that ensure they contribute to uninterrupted patient care while expanding their operations. SME health service providers have a competitive edge, particularly those capable of delivering high-quality care under urgent conditions. This contract underlines the NHS Mid and South Essex ICB's commitment to maintaining healthcare service continuity despite procurement challenges, presenting a substantial growth opportunity for the awarded supplier.
The current MSK and Physiotherapy Services Contract to provide the services to patients within NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (Basildon and Brentwood and Thurrock) will expire on 31st October 2025. The Urgent Award to the existing provider is to ensure that there is continued provision of MSK Pain Management and Rheumatology Services to the registered population of NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (Basildon and Brentwood and Thurrock) whilst the procurement in place to award a new contract is concluded. There is a requirement to award a new short term contract for 7 months, with an option to extend for a further 5 months 01st April 2025 - 31st March 2026.
