Summary, notice description and lot information
Derry City and Strabane District Council is seeking an organisation capable of coordinating and delivering the PeacePlus Ballyarnett Early Years project. This initiative is part of the Thriving and Peaceful Communities Theme and focuses on the Ballyarnett District Electoral Area (DEA) in Northern Ireland. The tender process uses an open procedure and is covered by the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA).
The main procurement category is services, specifically related to a Community Action Programme. The most recent award was successfully completed on 14 May 2025, with a contract value of £41,750 provided to Rainbow Child and Family Centre Ltd, ensuring cross-community engagement through workshops and staff exchanges in early years education. Earlier unsuccessful tenders were issued on 2 June and 27 May 2025.
Additionally, planning for future stages began with tender announcements on 22 January 2025, with key deadlines previously set for bid submission on 7 March 2025 and contract commencement on the same date. The PeacePlus Ballyarnett Early Years Project offers substantial business growth opportunities, especially for organisations focused on early childhood education, community action, and cross-community integration. Businesses proficient in delivering high-quality workshops tailored to parents and toddlers, and facilitating knowledge-sharing among early years educators, will find this initiative particularly relevant.
The project's emphasis on breaking cycles of sectarianism and promoting inclusivity aligns well with businesses looking to leverage their expertise in community programme implementation and cross-border outreach. The competitive tendering process values quality over cost, suggesting that companies with a strong track record of impactful community engagement and educational collaboration could thrive under this contract, alongside expanding their networking and influence within the district and region. The funding from the European Union under the PEACEPLUS Programme highlights a valuable opportunity for businesses to grow within a framework of European strategic objectives.
