Summary, notice description and lot information
Sunderland City Council has awarded a contract for the provision of Adult & Young Carer Service and Special Educational Needs & Disability Advice Service. The procurement process, which has now reached the award stage, was aimed at acquiring social work and related services within the region of UKC. The contract covers an essential range of services designed to support adult and young carers as well as providing impartial, confidential advice on special educational needs and disabilities.
Key dates include the contract being signed on 26th March 2024. The total value of the awarded contracts amounts to GBP 4,170,996 for the Adult & Young Carer Service and GBP 270,000 for the Special Educational Needs & Disability Advice Service. The process followed a limited procurement method due to no suitable tenders being received during an open procedure, leading to a direct award to Sunderland Carers Centre.
This procurement represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in social work and advisory services to examine potential collaborations or expansions. The awarded services are critical in catering to the needs of both young and adult carers as well as individuals with special educational needs. Companies with expertise in providing comprehensive care assessments, family support in compliance with legislative acts (such as the Children and Families Act 2014 and the Care Act 2014), and advisory services related to education, health, and care plans would be well-positioned to engage with similar future tenders.
The reliance on an experienced provider like Sunderland Carers Centre underscores the importance of demonstrated capability and experience in successfully delivering these specialised services.
Adult & Young Carer Service: The Service offers an open referral system and will receive referrals from and for Adult and Young Carers within the city. The Service will complete Carer's Assessments on behalf of the Local Authority and prescribe services to support Carer's within the remit of the Care Act as required following an initial triage of the referral. The Service will engage and support Young Carers and their Family to meet the regulations and guidance in relation to the Children and Families Act 2014 and the Care Act 2014. Special Educational Needs & Advice Service: To provide a free, impartial and confidential information, advice and support. This must cover initial concerns or identification of potential SEN or disabilities, through to ongoing support and provision, which may include an Education Health and Care plan (EHC Plan). The service will ensure children, young people and parents/carers are provided with information and advice on matters relating to SEN and disability.
