Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership has completed the procurement process for the "Award of Provision of Dental Services for Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board," valued at £1,588,153. The primary industry category is Health, with a focus on dental services. The procurement process was carried out through an open procedure, with an emphasis on enhancing patient access in priority areas such as Anglesey, Conwy, and Deeside, among others.
The successful contract, signed on 21st August 2024, concludes this phase in St Asaph, UK, signalling the commencement of services in the region. The tender initially commenced at the planning stage under identifier 2023/S 000-011487. This contract represents a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly SMEs in the health sector, to expand their operations and improve community health outcomes across North Wales.
Companies that can offer comprehensive dental services and demonstrate effective patient access strategies in underserved regions stand to benefit greatly. The successful engagement in this process also offers companies an opportunity to establish or expand their presence within NHS networks, fostering long-term growth and stability. With a preference for quality over price, firms focused on high-quality service delivery should find this tender particularly appealing.
The Health Board is seeking to commission in the region of 1,250,000 of dental services on an annual basis. This could be opening a new practice in an underserved area, or additional activity in an existing practice. All qualifying bids will be considered, however, preference will be given to the award of those bids evaluated as satisfactory or better and demonstrating the provision of additional access to patients in the following priority areas: Dwyfor, Meirionnydd, Anglesey, Conwy, Betws y Coed, Flintshire, Abergele/Pensarn, Deeside, Llandudno, Rhyl. The Health Board may commission more or less service from each area depending on the quality of bids it receives. The Health Board may commission services from areas not listed in the above list if insufficient satisfactory bids are received for its priority areas. The Health Board reserves the right not to commission the full level of service outlined in the tender if it does not receive sufficient satisfactory bids within the priority areas. The contracted provider is free to offer private services but it is expected that NHS commitment will be maintained at the contracted level and that NHS provision remains the significant proportion of the contractor's total workload. Please see Information for Bidders document for further information.
