Summary, notice description and lot information
In a recent procurement update, NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board initiated a tender process for the provision of primary medical services at Cauldwell Medical Centre in Bedford, under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR). The process, initially planned as a direct award via a limited procurement method, was eventually abandoned, with no contract awarded under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. Prior to the abandonment, the intention was to award the contract to the existing provider, East London NHS Foundation Trust, covering services like cervical screening and immunisations.
13, was to commence on 1 April 2025 for six years. The first procurement stage indicated was the award, detailed in a notice published on 17 December 2024. Despite the contract's cancellation, the tender presented potential business growth opportunities for service providers within the general practitioner services category.
Businesses of all sizes, particularly those specialising in healthcare services with a robust track record in primary care delivery, would have been well-suited to participate in such procurement activities. With a focus on general practitioner services, companies able to demonstrate quality and consistency in service delivery align well with the demand for continuity and enhancement of primary care services in the Bedford area. Companies familiar with procurement modules like the Provider Selection Regime stand to benefit in future procurements with similar regulatory frameworks.
