Summary, notice description and lot information
NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board is overseeing a procurement process for the delivery of a Covid Medicines Delivery Unit (CMDU) providing community access to Covid-19 therapeutic treatments. The procurement is classified under health services within the services category, employing an open procedure as per the Provider Selection Regime (PSR). The CMDU service is to be launched in Suffolk and North East Essex, with key industry classification falling under CPV code 85100000.
Following the recent update, the intention to award update was released on 26th November 2025 with a standstill period until 8th December 2025, marking a crucial deadline for providing representations to the award decision. This procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those experienced in providing health services under NHS contracts. Businesses capable of setting up new service systems efficiently are encouraged to explore this opportunity, as the contract includes potential for modifications and service expansions.
The successful supplier, Integrated Care 24 Limited (IC24), was selected for their capability to meet quality criteria, highlighting the importance of maintaining high service delivery standards over price. With a contract budget of £209,457 and an initial two-year period with the possibility of extension, businesses within the healthcare sector, specifically those equipped to adapt to expanding service demands, could find substantial growth potential through this tender.
The ICB is looking for a system partner to provide a Covid Medicines Delivery Unit (CMDU), similar to the current service which is being provided by its NHS 111 provider - Practice Plus Group. The successful provider must be able to commence service delivery from 01/12/2025. This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Contract Notice. The awarding of this contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For the avoidance of doubt, the provisions of the Procurement Act Regulations 2023 do not apply to this award. Bidders must hold either a PMS contract or other form of NHS contract delivering primary care medical services. Additional information: The Authority may wish to introduce additional services during the lifetime of the contract ("Contract modifications"). Such contract modifications will be contemplated where additional requirements are similar and or complementary to the services already included in the Specification, at any given time. Such expansion would be by the addition of services commissioned by the Authority as named in the Contract Notice. To this end, the Bidder should be aware that after the award of contract, there is a possibility that the successful Bidder may be offered a variation to the contract in accordance with the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
